By trade, I am a fisheries manager, and my working environment has also been at thecutting edge of fly dressing, having been responsible for the day to day management of
chalkstream and stillwater fisheries since 1979.
My work portfolio profile includes spells at Longstock on the River Test, Sparsholt College
(Winchester), Rockbourne Fishery (Fordingbridge, Hants) and - since 1992 -
developing the Albury Estate Fisheries near Guildford in Surrey.
I began dressing my own flies at the age of 13, when I realised that I could not obtain flies of the right calibre in size, colour, weighting and standard.

Through working in an excellent fishy environment in which to trial patterns, I have had
great fun and satisfaction in developing an effective fly box for rainbow and brown trout.
Over the years, my dressing technique has developed with a core theme of strength,
which allows for a fine balance between a sound construction, whilst promoting the best
possible performance of the fly.
Failure to balance these two prime parameters will cost you many fish.
